The Goal of CTE Web Design is to prepare students for entry level positions in the Internet Web Design industry. Students learn how to create and code web sites using an increasing array of programming languages and professional tools, all the while practising good employability skills that would make them ideal candidates for starting a career as a professional web designer. Students learn code that is universally compatible to with browsers. Entry level positions in Web Design start at ~$20 per hour, with average (median) pay at $62,500/year, as of the 2012 BLS report.
Upon completion of the course students will have a resumé and a portfolio, displaying their work done throughout the 2 semester course. Students also work on big projects that are examples of real world jobs. This includes the school's website, the county CTE website, and local businesses.
